Vigilance should be the cornerstone of every investment program. As the saying goes, "Trust everybody, but cut the cards".

Before purchasing an investment or financial service, take some time to define your investment objectives, do your homework, and compare information from the companies offering the product or service. By doing this, you can reduce or avoid investment losses and save yourself months or years of aggravation trying to recoup losses resulting from "bad" investments or financial services.

The sad truth is that no matter how much you try to protect yourself from outright fraud and other illegal activities you can become a victim. Since the essence of fraud is trickery, deceit, and/or outright lies, it is often almost impossible to protect yourself. Investment and financial service related fraud and illegal activities are like an earthquake, you never know when or where they will hit, but when they do it can be devastating.

Visit our "Buyer Beware" web pages where you will find information about some of the questionable practices, scams, or tricks you might encounter when purchasing an investment or financial service.

Once you have ascertained that you are the victim of investment fraud or other illegal investment related activities don't be afraid to take immediate and decisive action. These web pages will provide you with information you can use to contact the appropriate government agency, self-help resource, or legal counsel to obtain the assistance you need to recover your loss.

I hope you enjoy and are helped by these Consumer Protection web pages. Please feel free to send me your suggestions and/or other comments.
